Ajay Kapoor is a bestselling mystery author who hasn't written a word since the death of his wife, Diya — a Grammy-winning musician whose songs he can no longer bring himself to hear. When his publisher installs him in a remote Washington lighthouse for a month-long writing retreat, Ajay expects solitude. What he finds is Nora Sinclair, the lighthouse keeper's wife — who died there in 1875, and who can see him just as clearly as he can see her.
Separated by 150 years but sharing the same room, Ajay and Nora discover they are bound by more than geography: a poem Nora wrote in her journal in 1875 became a chart-topping song recorded by Diya two years ago. As Ajay investigates the lighthouse's past, the official story — that Nora went mad and took her own life — begins to crack. What emerges is a buried murder, a faithless husband, and a cover-up the town of Brewster's Bay spent generations maintaining.
Spirit/Song is a ghost story, a mystery, and a meditation on grief — built on the belief that some souls find each other across every lifetime, and that love, even when it cannot save us, can teach us how to let go.
This play will premiere in 2026 at Murphys Creek Theatre in Murphys, California.
